High Definition Television

High Definition Television

High Definition Television is preferred over Standard Television for many reasons. When HDTV first was introduced people were amazed at the remarkable picture quality and vibrancy of color that could be seen. Sound quality was also affected and was astonishingly much clearer with HDTV. The all around quality was much higher than Standard TV alone. It has also been improved over the years.

First off the aspect ratio is by far greater with High Definition Television. With HD you will get a true image without letterboxes or cutting off the image. The aspect ratio for HD is 16.9 compared to 4.3 of standard televisions. The aspect ratio is the width of an image compared to its height. Standard TV is only 33 percent wider than its height, where HDTV is 78 percent wider than its height. Therefore 16.9 aspect ratio is one-third wider than 4.3 aspect ratio.

When comparing the screen size the wide screen is a great improvement over the standard TV. It offers a more accurate, truer image of how we view objects. High Definition Television allows for more of the actual picture to be seen. Standard television will not show the full view of the picture and a portion of it will be cut off.

HDTV has much tighter pixels which gives a far better picture quality that can be seen over SDTV. There are typically one to two million pixels per frame. That is five times the amount of pixels than that of a Standard Definition TV. This is what gives the picture a more vibrant, sharper image. There is without a doubt, far more detail that can be seen with High Definition Television. Once an HD picture has been viewed there is an extreme noticeable difference. SDTV will not show the detailed image and will not be as enhanced. The image will be far less intense than that of a High Definition Television. To see the difference is quite remarkable.

Keep in mind that not all programming is broadcasts in High Definition. In order to have the HD quality on a High Definition Television the program must be broadcast in HD. If the program is not then the quality of the picture will not be a true HD picture even if you have an HDTV. Although, currently many broadcast stations are transmitting digital signals in HD.

Also, you must either have an High Definition Television that has a built-in digital tuner or be HD-ready. An HD receiver is also required to receive an HD picture. This receiver must be acquired through either your Cable or Satellite Company that you are associated with. Therefore, HD programming, an High Definition Television, and an HD receiver are all required to receive the utmost astonishing picture possible. These are just the few things needed to assure the highest quality TV viewing that can be received. Most Cable and Satellite Companies will dedicate a block of channels for HD programming alone. Check with the Company that you are connected with to obtain which channels they transmit in HD.

The High quality picture and sound will always be welcomed once its entered the home. Standard television is becoming a thing of the past and is not enjoyed as it once was. The difference is astonishing with its bright, vibrant colors and vivid images that come across. Even the sound is much clearer. The whole experience is by far greater when viewing favorite programs in High Definition Television.
